CLASSES
INTEGRATED STRUCTURAL AWARENESS ® is woven from the many modalities in
which Luisa has been trained, including: Gyrotonic®, Alexander Technique, Pilates, Floor Barre, Hatha and Iyengar Yoga, and, of course, her career as a professional ballerina. The ISA system serves as a template, designed to enhance the understanding of your body’s movement and energy expenditures, allowing you to work more efficiently while decreasing unnecessary stress. ISA helps you feel more satisfied and comfortable with your body as years of unhealthy, inattentive posture habits are unlearned and replaced with an understanding of supported structural balance. ISA is not limited to athletes or dancers; it also directs attention to repetitive, but not always natural, daily activities such as steering a car or typing on a computer. The system proves beneficial to anyone who wants a better working, toned and sculpted body. Teacher training and certification is available through ISA.
The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® naturally rehabilitates and strengthens the body with the aid of specially designed machines. This system incorporates the principles of Yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming and Tai Chi into a single holistic method. Using circular movements, it re-educates, balances, and harmonizes the central nervous system. It opens the energy lines of the spine and balances the structure of the body, combining deep strength training with stretching which stimulates neuromuscular coordination, joint articulation, stamina, and balance
BALLET classes are designed to link elements of Yoga with barre and center work. The classes are specifically taught with the body's natural architecture in mind to help dancers with their weaknesses and to enable them to use their bodies correctly.
SPECIAL CLASSES are conducted on a regular basis, including 8-week sessions of Tango classes. If there are any classes that would be of interest to you, please e-mail us at : director@thedanceproject.org
